The Roosevelt

Roosevelt Row could be described as a plethora of unique ideas and different tastes jammed onto one street in Phoenix, Arizona. There are independent shops of all kinds and nature, art galleries, graffiti on most buildings displaying a mural of different ideas, and every type of person can be seen walking down this street. When on Roosevelt, it’s a different world from the next street over; there’s color and vibrancy that major cities don’t usually have.

Roosevelt Row wouldn’t be a vibrant street without its history. Originally, the street was for mixed use; businesses were lined up on the street with different crafts and trades. According to RooseveltRow, the area was eventually rezoned, leading to the decline of the neighborhood. The decline, however, didn’t last as the space was desirable and redirect toward many of the creative arts looking for a big space for little dollars. Now, Roosevelt Row has transformed from a once beat-up neighborhood with a lot of history to an artists and creative paradise.

The Roasters

Roosevelt Row may be home to many different businesses, however, the ones that keep the rest going pump out caffeine. Coffee shops are not unknown to major cities, but these coffee shops are locally owned, using local coffee and local food to serve to their patrons. Each of these shops has a touch of home-grown that is hard to get in a coffee chain. These shops may be different on the outside, but welcome an environment that feels fresh, local and friendly with a unique aura surrounding each.
